Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
What kind of errors do you fix in my thesis?
A:
I offer a comprehensive edit that includes a study and review of grammar, punctuation, word order, clarity, as well as sentence and paragraph structure. I will work to ensure your document is clear, concise, and consistent and of the highest quality. My academic proofreading/editing service will improve word choice as may be necessary and adjust syntax to advance the flow and readability of your work. I will rewrite but also suggest changes or the addition of content to strengthen your work. I offer comments and suggestions as may be required on such aspects as improving headings and sequencing. The editing can also include a check for compliance with APA 6th edition formatting style.

Q:
Can you help me organize my chapters and paragraphs?
A:
I do offer suggestions on how to improve the sequence and consistency of the paragraphs and chapters and will advise you as to those sections that require further attention.
  shim
Q:
Why did you change my font?
A:
Most work appears in the public venue with a font that makes it easy to read but which matches a professional style. A font like Arial is hard to read in print for any extended period of time. A better choice is Times Roman, 12 point, which is widely accepted by journals, conference seminars, publishers and most academic research organizations.

Q:
What about guidelines for manuscript format and citations?
A:
I check that your work shows compliance with the appropriate writing and formatting style – APA style. For instance, APA style requires certain setup and layout rules for theses or research reports, but the primary function is to inform you of exactly how you must display your references both in the text and in the bibliography. I can ensure your paper complies by letting you know when citations may have been incorrectly formatted or overlooked or omitted.

Q:
Will you check my statistics?
A:
I am not a statistical expert and cannot check the accuracy of the statistics you selected. I would refer you back to your dissertation committee for assistance with statistical analyses or qualitative inquiry.

Q:
How do I get a quote?
A:

First, make sure all work is in Times Roman, 12 point, which is widely accepted by journals, conference seminars, publishers and most academic research organizations. Make sure the paper is double spaced with at least one-inch margins. Submit a query through our contact form and I will give you my direct email address.

Put “Academic Editing” in the subject line. I will generate a quote of $5/page for work that is double spaced (including the references), uses a 12 font, and has one inch margins. If you are satisfied with the quote,  Your edit will be returned in two days or less from the time your payment clears.
